Installing the print cartridge

  1. Open the toner door and remove the old print cartridge (see Figure 1).

NOTE: There will be some resistance when the toner door is opened. Opening the toner door conveniently lifts the print cartridge for removal.
  2. Remove the new print cartridge from the packaging and gently shake it from side to side to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge (see Figure 2).

  3. Bend the tab on the right side of the cartridge to break it loose (see Figure 3).

Figure 3: Bending and breaking the tab

  4. Pull the tab until all the tape is removed from the cartridge (see Figure 4). Put the tab in the print cartridge box to return for recycling.

  5. Insert the print cartridge in the printer, making sure that the print cartridge is in the correct position (see Figure 5). Close the toner door.

NOTE: Save the packaging for possible cartridge storage or shipping. For recycling information, see the instructions included in the cartridge package.
CAUTION: Hot water sets toner into fabric. If toner gets on any clothing, upholstery, or carpet, wipe it off with a dry cloth and wash with cold water.
