A message stating that the event log is full is displayed in Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Windows XP, and Microsoft Windows 2003 Server. An inspection of the event log in the Event Viewer reveals a pattern of errors registered at thirty second intervals similar to that shown below.

NOTE: Select Start , Programs or All Programs , Administrative Tools , Event Viewer from the Microsoft Windows desktop, and then select System to open the system log in most Microsoft Operating systems.

Discussion

The error is caused by a component in the I/O, "hpbpro.exe," that is not registered properly on the system.

To register the component properly, open a command prompt window by clicking Start then Run . Enter cmd.exe in the Run window.

NOTE: Change directories to the System32 folder by typing "cd \winnt\system32 " on Win2K and 2K Server systems, and "cd \windows\system32 " on later operating systems.

Next, run the command hpbpro.exe -RegServer . If the error is still generated, run hpbpro.exe -Service .

The component is registered correctly if no more DCOM error, "Class not registered " events are created in the event log.
