LCD messages

The following are the three types of messages that appear on the LCD screen:
  • Status messages
  • Warning messages
  • Error messages

Status Messages

Status messages reflect the current state of the printer. They indicate normal printer operation and require no action to clear them. They change as the state of the printer changes. A READY status message is displayed if the printer is online and one of the following situations occur:
  • Printer is ready
  • Printer is not busy
  • Printer has no pending warning messages

Warning Messages

Warning messages reflect events that require the user's attention but do not prevent the printer from printing. These messages remain displayed until the Resume button is pressed from the panel.

Error Messages

Error messages indicate that the user needs to perform some action, such as adding media or clearing a media jam. After performing an appropriate action, press the Resume button to continue printing. If an error message shows an error code, press and hold the Power button to turn the printer off and then turn it on again. If the message persists, write down the error code and go to HP Instant Support (HPIS) for details. In case of device failure, contact HP.
