NOTICE: The information in this document, including products and software versions, is current as of the Release Date. This document is subject to change without notice.

Release Date: 2006-04-11

Last Updated: 2006-04-11

DESCRIPTION

An issue has been identified on the MSA1000, MSA1500 and MSA1510i arrays where degraded read performance has been observed when multiple logical drives (LUNs) are configured to a single array group. The degraded read performance occurs during heavy write utilization of a LUN and simultaneous read access of another LUN on the same array group.

In situations of performance degradation, performance will drop rapidly.

SCOPE

All Firmware versions for:

MSA1000
MSA1500
MSA1510i

RESOLUTION

In order to prevent the read performance degradation, the following configuration/utilization changes can be made.

  • Move any LUNs under heavy write utilization to its own array group
    Or

  • Reduce write IO to the LUN
