HP Compaq t5720 Thin Client - Aclient or Altiris Client GUI Icon Is Missing from the System Tray

ISSUE:

On some HP Compaq t5720 Thin Clients, the Aclient or Altiris Client GUI icon is missing from the system tray. This issue persists even after re-imaging the operating system and logging in as the administrator.

Cause:

The Aclient icon is hidden by default.

SOLUTION:

Complete the following steps to enable the Aclient or Altiris Client icon to be displayed in the system tray:

  1. Log in as the Administrator by completing the following steps:

    1. Click Start , then click Log off , and then click Log Off .

    2. Keep depressing the Shift key to display the Login window.

    3. Type the user name as Administrator and the default password, which is Administrator .

    4. Click OK .

      Now the system is logged in as Administrator.

  2. Enable the Aclient GUI icon by completing the following steps:

    1. Click Start , and then click Run .

    2. Type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK .

    3. Change the directories to C:\Program Files\Altiris\Aclient .

    4. Type aclient.exe -admin .

    5. Depress the Enter key. This opens the Altiris Client Service Properties window.

    6. Click the Security tab.

    7. Uncheck Hide Client Tray Icon .

    8. Click OK .

      You can now see the Aclient or Altiris Client icon on the system tray.
