Introduction

This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the Power supply for the HP Compaq dc5700 Small Form Factor PC.

NOTE: Part numbers are subject to change.

The replacement part number will vary depending on the Power supply that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP .

Power supply removal

  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:

    CAUTION: Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
  2. Remove the Access panel. Click here for instructions on how to remove the Access panel .

  3. Remove the Optical drive. Click here for instructions on how to remove the Optical drive .

  4. Rotate the optical drive support to an upright position.

  5. Remove the CPU power cable from the cable clip on the fan duct.

  6. Disconnect the CPU power cable from the system board.

  7. Disconnect the remaining power cables from all of the drives and the system board, noting their location for reinstallation.

  8. Pull up on the green power supply release latch and slide the power supply away from the rear chassis wall until it is clear of the guide rail.

  9. Lift the power supply out of the chassis.

Power supply replacement

  1. Position the power supply so that slots on the bottom of the power supply engage the retaining tabs on the chassis pan and the security lock grommet is aligned with its slot in the rear of the chassis.

  2. Slide the power supply toward the rear of the chassis until the green release latch engages the locking tab on the chassis pan.

  3. Connect the power cables to the drives and system board.

  4. Replace the CPU power cable into the cable clip on the fan duct.

  5. Lower the optical drive support.

  6. Replace the Optical drive. Click here for instructions on how to replace the Optical drive .
