HP EliteBook 6930p Notebook PC - Removing and Replacing the Bluetooth Module

Introduction

This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the Bluetooth Module for the HP EliteBook 6930p Notebook PC.

Minimum skill level

The End User requires no hardware-specific training to replace the defective part. The End user should have familiarity with system hardware and software requiring repair.

Tools required

Small, Phillips-head P0 screwdriver.

Parts required

NOTE: Part numbers are subject to change.

The replacement part number will vary depending on the Bluetooth Module that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP .

Bluetooth Module removal

  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:

    CAUTION: Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
  2. Remove the battery. Click here for instructions on how to remove the battery .

  3. Loosen the captive P0 Phillips-head screw that secures the Bluetooth cover to the base enclosure.

  4. Lift and remove the Bluetooth cover from the notebook.

  5. Lift the bottom edge of the Bluetooth module until it clears the plastic tab in the base enclosure.

  6. Disconnect the Bluetooth module cable from the Bluetooth module.

  7. Place the Bluetooth module in a static dissipative bag.

Bluetooth Module replacement

  1. Remove the Bluetooth module from the static dissipative bag.

  2. Reconnect the Bluetooth module cable to the Bluetooth module.

  3. Toe the top edge of the Bluetooth module into base enclosure and press down on the bottom edge until the Bluetooth module is secured by the plastic tab in the base enclosure.

  4. Slide the Bluetooth cover onto the base enclosure.

  5. Tighten the captive P0 Phillips-head screw that secures the Bluetooth cover to the base enclosure.
