DESCRIPTION

If you are using both the HP Polyserve/HP Clustered File System Performance Dashboard and McAfee AntiVirus 8.5.1, issues between the PolyServe file system and McAfee filter drivers can lead to a slowdown in open/write and read performance. To avoid this issue, HP recommends that you exclude files that are frequently opened, modified, and closed from the AntiVirus scan.

This issue has been seen only on the Microsoft Windows version of HP PolyServe Matrix Server/HP Clustered File System. Microsoft Windows clusters that are not running the Performance Dashboard can also be affected.

SCOPE

This issue affects the HP PolyServe Software for Windows and the HP StorageWorks Enterprise File Services Clustered Gateway Software for Windows when running McAfee Virus Scanners.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, exclude certain HP Polyserve/HP Clustered File System directories from the McAfee scanner. Use the following steps:

  1. Open the VirusScan Console.

  2. Right-click On-Access Scanner and select Properties.

  3. Click All Processes and go to the Detection Tab.

  4. Click Exclusions.

  5. Add C:\Program Files\Polyserve\MatrixServer\perfmon and exclude all subdirectories.

  6. Add C:\Program Files\Polyserve\MatrixServer\conf and exclude all subdirectories.

  7. Click OK to exit the exclusions window and then click OK to exit On-Access Scan Properties.

  8. Right-click Full Scan and select Properties in the Virus Scan Console.

  9. On the Detection tab, click Exclusions.

  10. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for Full Scan.
