HP-UX Ignite-UX - 11.31 Restore Hangs Running insf

Issue

Environment:

Model - rx2660 and BL860c

OS - HP-UX 11i v3 (B.11.31)

When try to clone using an image from a BL860c to another BL860c server, the install process hangs running insf. The insf hang occurs after the archive has been restored and is first rebooted:

The above insf hangs were observed with the following Ignite-UX revsions:

C.7.9.254

C.7.10.242

C.7.10.474

The insf hang was also observed when restoring the image created on a BL860C to an rx2660 server.

Why is this problem occurring and how can the systems be successfully restored?

Solution

After much testing the problem was isolated to EMC Powerpath revision 5.1.0_b160 being installed on the source systems where the Ignite-UX images were created. Once Powerpath was removed Ignite-UX was able to successfully clone and no further insf hangs were observed.

Or

Booted system in single user mode, then started network services (/sbin/init.d/hostname start,/sbin/init.d/net.init start, /sbin/init.d/net start) and SD services (swagentd -r), then removed powerpath software using swremove and then rebooted system and it booted fine without any issues.
