HP ProLiant BL680c G7 Server series - Removing and Replacing the System Board Side B

Introduction

This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the system board side B for the HP ProLiant BL680c G7 Server series.

The End-User must possess extensive product-specific knowledge and technical skill on how to service the system, and be familiar with the operating system.

  • T10 Screwdriver

  • T6 Screwdriver

Parts required

NOTE: Part numbers are subject to change.

The replacement part number will vary depending on the system board side B that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP .

System board side B removal

  2. Remove the B-side access panel. Click here for instructions on how to remove the access panel .

  3. Remove all hard drives. Click here for instructions on how to remove the hard drive .

  4. Remove all hard drive blanks. Click here for instructions on how to remove the hard drive blank .

  5. Remove the B-side front panel/hard drive cage assembly. Click here for instructions on how to remove the front panel/hard drive cage assembly .

  6. Remove the B-side left DIMM baffle. Click here for instructions on how to remove the left DIMM baffle .

  7. Remove the B-side right DIMM baffle. Click here for instructions on how to remove the right DIMM baffle .

  8. Remove all DIMMs. Click here for instructions on how to remove the DIMMs .

  9. Remove the interposer board. Click here for instructions on how to remove the interposer board .

  10. Remove the B-side mezzanine cards, if installed. Click here for instructions on how to remove the B-side mezzanine cards .

  11. Remove the B-side heatsinks. Click here for instructions on how to remove the heatsink .

  12. Remove the B-side processors. Click here for instructions on how to remove the processor .

  13. Remove the 8 thumbscrews from the B-side system board.

  14. Remove the screw from the system board handle.

  15. Lift the handle up, and the lift the system board up and out of the server.

System board side B replacement

  1. Lift the handle up, and the place the system board into the server.

  2. Tighten the screw on the system board handle.

  3. Tighten the 8 thumbscrews on the B-side system board.

  4. Replace the B-side processors. Click here for instructions on how to replace the processor .

  6. Replace the B-side mezzanine cards, if installed. Click here for instructions on how to replace the B-side mezzanine cards .

  7. Replace the interposer board. Click here for instructions on how to replace the interposer board .
