HP Desktop PCs - Error 1606: Could not access network location - Displays When Installing or Removing Software

When you try to install or remove a software program, you receive an error message that resembles the following: Error 1606: Could Not Access Network Location

This issue might occur if there is an incorrect setting in one of the following registry subkeys:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
