HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 - SQL Instance does not get Installed

ISSUE: HP Web Jetadmin versions 10.2.74918 and 10.2.73942 will fail to install when installation is performed using silent installer options. Once the installer finishes, HP Web Jetadmin’s client startup page will display in your browser with the message: SQL Server: Stopped. This simply means all the HP Web Jetadmin files and details have installed but there was no SQL server instance found.
NOTE: This issue is expected to be fixed in a future release.
WORKAROUND: In the case where WJA has already installed and you are observing the SQL Server: Stopped message, follow these steps:
  1. Stop the HP Web Jetadmin service using the command:

    C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Web Jetadmin 10\bin\HPWJAServiceCtrl.exe -wait-on-stop

  2. Obtain SQL using the URL:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=01AF61E6-2F63-4291-BCAD-FD500F6027FF Non-HP site (SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe version:10.00.2531.00)

  3. Use command to silent install SQL:

    SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe /Q /ACTION=Install /FEATURES=SQLEngine /INSTANCENAME=HPWJA /SQLSVCACCOUNT="NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE" /AddCurrentUserAsSqlAdmin /INSTALLSQLDATADIR="D:\ProgramFiles\MicrosfotSQLServer" /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS="BUILTIN\ADMINISTRATORS"

  4. Start the HP Web Jetadmin service using the command:

    C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Web Jetadmin 10\bin\HPWJAServiceCtrl.exe -wait-on-web-server

In the case where WJA is not yet installed and the entire sequence to install the SW is needed, follow these steps:

  1. Obtain SQL using the URL:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=01AF61E6-2F63-4291-BCAD-FD500F6027FF Non-HP site (SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe version:10.00.2531.00)

  2. Use command to silent install SQL:

    SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe /Q /ACTION=Install /FEATURES=SQLEngine /INSTANCENAME=HPWJA /SQLSVCACCOUNT="NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE" /AddCurrentUserAsSqlAdmin /INSTALLSQLDATADIR="D:\ProgramFiles\MicrosfotSQLServer" /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS="BUILTIN\ADMINISTRATORS"

NOTE: INSTALLDIR option is being used here to put SQL instance files onto a non-default location. This command can be removed or altered. SQL requires you use the short-path notation when this path has spaces.

A common short path is: DATABASEDIR=\”C:\Program~1\SQL\” Use the command, :"Dir *. /x" to determine short-path notation.

NOTE: Command sequence was used to test workaround in an HP test environment; the sequence may need to be modified to work in your specific environment. Microsoft online documentation should be consulted for more details – or, use this command for command line option details: "SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe /Help". All relevant logs will be in DRIVE:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp.
  3. Use command to silent install WJA:

    WjaSetup-x64.exe /S /v/qn /V"WJA_EULA=ACCEPT WJA_SKIP_DB_INSTALL=1 INSTALLDIR=\"D:\ProgramFiles\Hewlett-Packard\"

NOTE: This command uses the WJA_SKIP_DB_INSTALL option. WJA should recognize the HPWJA SQL instance upon HPWJA service startup.
