Identify the cable Connector, type, Length and Part Numbers for SAS cable
Identify the connector type on Controller:
SAS Controller Integrated on the System Board:
Refer to Server documentation (User or Service and Maintenance guide) available on HP Product Support website to identify the Connector type on the system board.
PCI/PCIe HP SAS controllers:
Refer to Controller Quickspecs or Controller Product Overview page on HP website.
Follow the steps to access server and controller documentation available on the HP Product Support website:
Connector type on Hard Drive Cage/Backplane:
Depending on the number of Hard Drive supported internally on a sepcific server model, SAS cabling will take place as illustrated in a sample picture given below.
Select an Appropiate cable:
Once Connector type has been identified on the both end (Controller and Harddrive backplane), select the cable matching connector specification.
Identify the cable length as per requirent.
Find out the SAS Cable Part Numbers:
Once the connector is identified on the both end of the cable, you may refer to quickspecs of the storage controller and service and Maintenance guide for a specific server model to get the SAS Cable Part numbers.
NOTE: Use the HP Partsurfer to find the spare part using the option part number.
