On a very limited number of ProLiant BL465c G7 server blades, when an attempt is made to flash the System ROM to a later version, the message, Reprogramming…..Flash Programming failed will be displayed , and the attempt will be unsuccessful.


A very limited number of ProLiant BL465c G7 server blades with a CPLD code prior to version 14.


To correct this issue, update to System Programmable Logic Device Version 15 for the ProLiant BL465c G7 as shown below. The Smart Components are available as follows:

Ensure that the server is running the latest available version of HP Integrated Lights-Out 3 (iLO 3) Firmware, available here:

Perform the following steps to obtain the latest iLO 3 firmware version:

  1. Click on the following link:

  2. Select the appropriate operating system.
  3. Click on "Firmware - Lights-Out Management."
  4. Locate, download, and install iLO 3 Firmware Version 1.20 (or later).

Perform the following:

  1. Power the server blade OFF.
  2. Update iLO 3 to firmware version 1.20 (or later).
  3. Update to the Service Pack for ProLiant (HP SPP) Version 2012.02
  4. Reseat the server blade.
  5. Power the server ON and update the CPLD, available at the links above. If the update fails, perform the steps again. If the update fails a second time, contact HP Support to replace the System Board:
