Advisory: (Revision) HP System Health Application and Command Line Utilities (Hp-Health) - Uncorrectable Memory Errors Are Not Detected During POST on HP ProLiant Gen8 Servers Running the Hp-Asrd Service
NOTICE: The information in this document, including products and software versions, is current as of the Release Date. This document is subject to change without notice.
Updated Resolution section with permanent fix, updated version of the HP System Health Application and Command Line Utilities for Linux.
Original Document Release.
On an HP ProLiant Gen8 server running Red Hat Enterprise Linux or SUSE Linux Enterprise server, uncorrectable memory errors will not be detected during the Power-On Self-Test (POST) and will not be logged in the Integrated Management Log (IML) when the hp-asrd service is running. When this occurs, the server will unexpectedly reboot without any warning.
The hp-asrd service (packaged in the HP System Health Application and Command Line Utilities driver for Linux - hp-health) uses the iLO Application Watchdog timer ports to configure the watchdog functionality. The hp-asrd service is incorrectly writing to the timer ports, preventing the System ROM from sourcing the uncorrectable memory error.
Any HP ProLiant Gen8 server running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10, or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 with the hp-asrd service running.
For the following HP ProLiant Gen8 servers, this is resolved in HP System Health Application and Command Line Utilities for Linux version 9.10.

- HP ProLiant DL360e Gen8 server
- HP ProLiant BL465c Gen8 server blade
