DESCRIPTION

Do not use Windows Hibernation on an HP ProLiant G7 or Gen8-series server configured with Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012.

If Hibernation mode is used, when the server returns from hibernation, a Blue Screen may be displayed.

SCOPE

Any HP ProLiant G7 or Gen8-series server configured with Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012 and with devices that perform firmware initiated memory accesses, such as on-chip temperature monitoring and Active Health Systems support.

RESOLUTION

To prevent the Blue Screen from occurring, DO NOT allow the server to enter Hibernation mode (S4).

If the Blue Screen has already occurred, power the system off and then power it back on.
