Advisory: HP ProLiant DL-Series and ProLiant ML-Series Gen8 Servers - Integrated Lights-Out 4 Firmware Version 1.20 May Log Erroneous IML Entries After The Server Experiences Input Power Loss
NOTICE: The information in this document, including products and software versions, is current as of the Release Date. This document is subject to change without notice.
HP ProLiant DL-series and HP ProLiant ML-series Gen8 servers with HP Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) Firmware Version 1.20 may log erroneous IML entries that indicate "General Failure" to the system's power supply after the server experiences input power loss. If a system loses input power and then functions normally once power is re-applied to the power supply, IML should log an "Input Power Loss" entry and not a "General Failure" entry.
In a "General Failure" event, power supplies fail permanently and require warranty repair or replacement of the power supply. However, erroneous "General Failure" entries, when the power supply functions normally after input power loss, do not require power supply repair or replacement.
Figure 1: An erroneous IML entry, indicating general power failure.
Figure 2: An IML entry, indicating input power loss.
Any HP ProLiant DL-series or ProLiant ML-series Gen8 server with Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) Firmware Version 1.20.
The issue described above has been corrected in Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) Firmware Version 1.22. To obtain iLO 4 Firmware Version 1.22 (or later):
